The thing was so fast. Those were the days where if you had a fast car, you could drive away. Restarts, I was able to drive away at will from the pack behind. The car was really fast.

The 2010 IndyCar season was a nail-biter which went down to the final round, where Dario Franchitti and the #10 Dallara chassis took the championship title at the last round by just five points.

During that season, Franchitti took three wins, including his second Indy 500 victory, with a dominant 155 of 200 laps led, and a further seven podiums to deliver the Scotsman his third title in four years.

The Honda HI10R V8

Powered by Honda’s 3.5l naturally aspirated HI10R V8 engine, making approximately 650bhp, 2010 was the penultimate year of the ‘Honda Indy V8’ era where development was frozen, making this engine the last of the IndyCar Series V8 powerplants.

This Dallara IR-05 is the third generation of the Dallara IndyCar chassis. IndyCar implemented a general chassis and engine development freeze from the start of the 2009 season as the series began focusing on a new chassis/engine package to be rolled out for 2012, replacing the Honda Indy V8 with smaller, 2.2l turbocharged V6 units.

The HI10R engine was developed and assembled by Honda Performance Development in Santa Clarita, California with support from Ilmor Engineering. After its IndyCar swansong in 2011, the ‘Honda Indy V8’ was honored as "North American Race Engine of the Year" by Race Engine Magazine.
